This vintage 1989 Rolex Sea-Dweller reference 16660, affectionately known among collectors as the “Triple Six”, represents a pivotal chapter in the model’s history. Introduced as a transitional reference, it was the first Sea-Dweller to feature a sapphire crystal and an increased depth rating of 1,220 metres, bridging the gap between earlier acrylic-crystal tool watches and later modern iterations. Crafted in stainless steel with a 40mm case, unidirectional rotating bezel and classic black dial, it is powered by an automatic Rolex movement and fitted to a robust Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock clasp. Widely regarded as one of the most characterful Sea-Dweller references, the 16660 combines genuine vintage appeal with practical durability.
