Description

Breitling produced this Aerospace Avantage in 2007 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. It is the Spitfire edition, one of three variants (Spitfire, Lancaster and Hurricane), each limited to 200 pieces. The dial carries the BBMF 50th Anniversary emblem, the words "Lest We Forget", and a profile of the Flight's Battle of Britain veteran Spitfire P7350 in the markings of No.603 (City of Edinburgh) Squadron, the unit she was flying with when she was shot down in October 1940, repaired, and returned to the fight. The Aerospace is the Breitling that air forces put their name on. Introduced in 1985 as the brand's first quartz pilot's watch and developed in conjunction with aviation professionals, it has been the basis for editions commissioned by military units from RAF squadrons and the Royal Navy to the Patrouille de France. The 42mm titanium case weighs almost nothing on the wrist. Inside is Breitling's chronometer-certified SuperQuartz calibre 79, with analogue hands and twin digital displays, night-vision-compatible backlight, unidirectional rotating bezel, sapphire crystal and 10 ATM water resistance. It showcases a beautiful cream dial with applied silver Arabic numerals at 12 and 6, and luminous hands and baton markers with silver accents, on a titanium bracelet with folding clasp. This example has been professionally cleaned and refinished and presents in excellent condition. It has been in one ownership since it was bought new, on pre-order, at the 2007 RAF Waddington Airshow. The original presentation box and papers were lost in house moves some years ago; in their place the watch carries a documented history: a letter from Andrew Michael's Jewellers of Newark, the Breitling retailer that sold it new and has commissioned more than 100 limited editions for military and aviation units, confirming it as one of the 200 created for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and records of two Breitling services, in June 2016 and September 2018. It is supplied in a Breitling service box. With only 200 made, the BBMF Spitfire edition rarely comes to market and represents a true collector's piece. Backed by our 2 Year Warranty, plus a 14 Day Return Policy and Next Day Delivery for added peace of mind. BQ Ref: 53502.
